Missouri Botanical Garden
The Missouri Botanical Garden welcomes close to one million visitors a year and is considered one of the world’s most prestigious centers for botanical research and science education. Sacred Seeds – Missouri, located in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening, is a Native American medicinal plant garden that gives respect to the surrounding ecosystem and to the generations of Native Americans who were the custodians of traditional medicine.
This setting provides multiple arenas of educational opportunities for visitors. Formal courses will be taught to help people get hands on understanding of traditional medicine, ethnobotany, and the many benefits of conservation. In addition, guided and self-guided tours can help people understand from where their herbal remedies and pharmaceuticals originate, as well as be a resource for the many schools and universities in the area.
